"After lots of internet research, I decided to book Emily Tarrant as my wedding make up artist and it was one of the best decisions I made. I live and work in Hong Kong so my wedding day was planned from a distance. Emily was easy to get hold of and she kept in regular contact over email. She was also very flexible when booking my make up trial. I felt completely at ease during the trial (even though, due to circumstances, it was only 10 days before my wedding). Emily made sure I was open and honest about what I wanted. We looked at pictures, talked about skin tone, style of my dress etc. She was constantly talking me through, showing me effects and asking if I was happy with the palette choice etc.

 I love make up and buy products regularly so I had considered doing my own make up on the day, but after my trial I realised that I would not have been able to create such a natural yet dramatic effect. The eye make up was exceptional and I loved the build up of colours. Emily also applied my false eyelashes so I was not worried about them coming loose on those all-important photographs.

 My mum and three bridesmaids all had their make up applied by Emily and they were all thrilled with the final result. Emily worked with my hairdresser and together they created an itinerary that ensured the morning would run smoothly. My wedding morning was calm, professional, happy and relaxed. My make up lasted the whole day and still looked fresh for our first dance.  I can highly recommend Emily for any bride, she made me look and feel amazing!"

"Emily Tarrant did a completely fantastic job of my wedding make-up. I asked her to do make-up for myself, two bridesmaids and my mum. I was so pleased with my bridal make-up as I was very anxious about it looking right. Emily totally calmed my nerves on the day and was extremely professional. I'd had a make-up trial with her which was brilliant - the make-up looked so fresh and glamorous - and was exactly the same 14 hours later when I washed it off that evening at midnight. She told me this staying power was to do with layers of primer. On the wedding morning Emily was fantastic and kept everyone calm - she was working away on the make-up so professionally - there were lots of disruptions and interruptions on the wedding morning but Emily was never distracted, she stayed focused and got the job done brilliantly. The bridesmaids make-up looked stunning- it was exactly what I wanted - Emily was great at understanding my requests and interpreting them into great make-up! Emily also did my mum's make up which was tricky as mum had had a mole removed and was conscious of the scar - she looked fabulous on the day. I loved that Emily picked fantastic colours for everyone's own skin tones and their clothes but also kept a coherent feel to the make-up design. "I managed to find Emily from one of her business cards in the first bridal shop I went to.  I then viewed her comprehensive website and asked her for references from her previous clients which she was very happy to provide (all were glowing by the way).  This information was compared against 4 other artists in the Gloucestershire area and I decided to choose Emily as she was fun, my age (i.e. not 17 and bright orange), made up in a very natural way, plus she made me feel completely comfortable and very relaxed.  She was happy to talk through her products (mountains of them – a real girly treasure trove) and how to use them; I still use her techniques for putting on blusher!

Emily and I did an initial trial at my home which was a fun way to learn about makeup and how it can be used to really emphasis your best features.  Who knew eyebrows were so important!  We talked through what I wanted (simple, last all day and able to add red lipstick for our 1940s themed evening reception) and then we trialled “the look”.  This was tweaked to suit me as an individual and what I was comfortable with and that was it!  The night of the make-up trial I had a hen night.  My makeup felt completely natural, it didn’t need constant retouching and it stayed in place all night despite lots of dancing.  Perfect!

On the big day, Emily arrived bang on time, got settled and worked her magic managing to do it all in one hour.  The look she created was perfect for me, lasted all day and all night (just a dab of powder and additional lippy at half time), my skin felt lovely and I didn’t react to the products she used at all.

As someone with limited self-esteem I wanted my wedding day to be the one day I could look back on and know I was beautiful, this may seem really strange but I took a lot of time and energy finding the right photographer and make-up artist who would both capture how I felt inside.  On the day, Emily helped pull it all together and I did feel beautiful and was told I looked beautiful too – mission accomplished!

All in all, a makeup artist is a real treat and Emily was a lovely one to work with.  I really hope I have the excuse to use her again and have recommended her already without hesitation."
